What's the Difference Anyway?
The regular plan (up to $399/month):
- Everything you need for a working store
- You can sell, accept payments, manage inventory
- Limited checkout customization
Shopify Plus ($2,300+/month):
- Can customize the checkout process
- Built-in tools for B2B (wholesale) sales
- Up to 9 stores at one price
- Dedicated account manager
When Plus Is Actually Worth It
You have very high revenue
If you're selling over $500K/month, savings on fees can justify the upgrade.
You need to customize the checkout
Want to show loyalty points at checkout? Add a gift message field? Offer a post-purchase upsell? You can only do this on Plus.
You have significant wholesale sales
If B2B is a large part of your business, Plus's built-in tools can replace expensive apps.
You have multiple stores
Running more than one brand? Plus includes up to 9 stores in the price.
When to Stay with the Regular Plan
Revenue isn't there yet
Under $200K/month, the math almost never works.
Checkout works fine for you
If customers buy without problems, there's no reason to pay for the option to change something that works.
Apps solve the problem
There are apps that do a lot. Even if they cost money, it's usually less than $1,900/month.
The Question to Ask
Before upgrading, ask yourself: What specific feature do I need that I can't get otherwise?
If there's no clear answer — you probably don't need Plus.
Not Sure?
We'd love to look at your store and honestly tell you if Plus is worth it or not. Sometimes the answer is "stay with what you have."
